Today two busses full of students, administrators, and teachers from St.Henrys Catholic Elementary School ventured to the University of Toronto to participate in the CIBC Run for the cure. Each and every one of us today became the change we want to see in the world by supporting the friends and families of/ survivors in our community - including our most recent survivor (a school administrator) who has been fighting cancer. Collectively we raised more money than any other school who entered a team in the CIBC run, allowing us to claim first place in the school challenge. This day was moving, it gave all of us a change to communicate/ empathize with one another on a different level. As a result of this beautiful day we have strengthened our web of support for one another, and continued to outline what it means to develop a strong catholic community of individuals at our school.
AuthorAs a teacher my goal is to awaken joy and potential through co-learning, creative expression, and differentiated instruction in the classroom. As a firm believer in the notion that the journey is often more valuable than one's destination - I am creating this archive of my journey as a co-learner embarking on a career as a teacher. This is not only for myself, but is meant to be shared with, and inspire others alike - so that we may create positive environments for both learning and teaching. Goals:
To uphold and honor dignity, take initiative over ethical responsibilities in relation to my profession, and create a safe and welcoming learning environment that fosters public trust. CARE:Compassion, acceptance, interest, and insight for developing students' potential - requires the commitment of the teacher to care for the health and well being of the students, by being empathetic and display professional judgement in order to be a positive influence in the lives of others.
RESPECT:A teacher must honour dignity, emotional wellness and cognitive development. We must model respect for spiritual and cultural values, social justice, confidentiality, freedom, democracy, and the environment.
TRUSTIt is my duty to be fair, open, and honest. I hold enriching professional relationships with students, colleagues, and parents that are rooted in trust.
INTEGRITY:I am honest, reliable in relation to moral action. I assist others in exercising their integrity in relation to professional commitments and responsibilities.
